Welcome!
The Lord blessed me not only with the desire to create, but also with a love of words. I combined the two and began to write fictional stories at a very young age. One day, I felt the impression to write poetry. So, I sat down and wrote: “I Can Still See.” It’s a loving tribute to attending a little country church with my great-grandmother. It’s one of the first pieces I ever submitted for publication and it was accepted by “Measures of the Heart.”
Next, the women’s ministry at my church asked to me write devotional poems to be used at various functions, which were well received. I continued on writing more poetry. Then I realized I could tweak some of my poems and use them as personalized gifts. And that’s what I did. I was amazed at how much these unique and inspirational poems touched people. At that point, I decided to share them through a business with others.
My old computer had a program on it for creating greeting cards. I would write catchy and funny lyrical poems on them. I loved seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter from those who received them. Then, I began hearing people talk about greeting cards with a southern flair. I thought that needed to be taken a step further. There needed to be a line with adages from the south and Appalachia. Hence, “Hilarious Hillbilly” was born.
Just in case you are wondering how I know these adages so well, I was born and live in Knoxville, Tennessee. Some of my family came into this region in 1780 when this portion of the state was still territory of North Carolina. So, I am very southern y’all.
